Principal's Office - Mr. Ian MacLean

Mr. MacLean

Ian MacLean came to Canada from Australia in 1968 and became a Canadian citizen in 1978. He has taught at all levels, from Kindergarten to University, but his preference for teaching is with elementary students. He also found teaching future teachers at the University of British Columbia and University of Victoria to be a rewarding experience.

Mr. MacLean has been a Principal and Vice-principal in Victoria schools for over twenty years. He has served as Principal at Burnside, Rockheights and Torquay Elementary Schools.

Mr. MacLean enjoys the learning successes he observed in young children. He enjoys helping children by sharing his own life experiences and enjoys learning from others, believing that we must always be learners to enable us to lead a full life.

He has supported and promoted many of the changes he has seen in education having been a teacher since 1963! He believes that teaching is a rewarding and very challenging career and would not have made any other choice for his own career.

Mr. MacLean's personal interests are trying to stay fit - jogging, golf and tennis; traveling and cooking. He has also recently taken up surfing - the "Net", that is.
